I love experimenting with vintage sewing machine attachments. There are many generic sewing machine attachments that will work on the vintage Singer sewing machines. I am using the Singer 15–91 sewing machine for this demonstration. Today I would like to show you a little about using a generic underbraider attachment. This attachment is very easy to attach to your sewing machine, it just clips on to your needle plate. You slide the bobbin cover plate over, clip the under braiding attachment to the needle plate and close the bobbin cover plate. The foot to use with the under braider is the short toed quilting foot. The part number on quilting foot that I am using 32934, I pulled the quilting bar off of it.
I think the most important thing to remember about using the under braider is the fabric you are sewing on will be facedown covering the braiding attachment. You can draw your design on the wrong side of the fabric if you would like however for this demonstration I just sewed a wavy design.
You will first want to feed the cord through the under braider until it is just past the needle hole. Second you will want to place your fabric over the under braiding attachment and under the quilting foot.
Now you're just so your design and as you do that make sure that you're according is free and easy to feed under the needle. Sew wavy line, sew along a seam line, experiment with a piece of fabric to get the feel of how easy this is.Sorry about the glare off of the gold cording. It really wasn't that bright of gold in the first place, I didn't think...
I always welcome questions and comments right or if you have an attachment you're not sure how to use please let me know I'd be happy to do a write up on it.
