Puzzle Box patent 1889 for Singer Sewing Machine Attachments

Being new to the blogger world I wanted to share my love for everything that I have about Singer Sewing Machine and attachments. I have collected, sold, refurbished many vintage sewing machines over the years and also have learned how to use almost all the attachments that are out there for the vintage sewing machines. Singer sewing machines are one of my favorites as are the little Adlerettes. Recently I decided to showcase a few of the oak puzzle boxes that contain a wonderful variety of sewing machine attachments for the Singer sewing machines. These have been in my stash for close to 15 years and I'm finally getting to the point that I'm wanting to sit and rediscover how great these attachments work.

Years ago I bought a White treadle sewing machine which came with a metal box of sewing machine attachments. I decided to try to use the ruffling foot when I was making a bedskirt for my bed. Now remember, this was close to 20 years ago, I know we don't often make bedskirts anymore however I digress. So I pulled out the ruffling foot of this metal box of  attachments and tested it on a piece of fabric to see what it would do. I was so surprised at what a wonderful job this hundred year old attachment did that I used it for ruffling 14 yards of fabric for the bed skirt ruffle. This all went so very well that I decided to try one of the rolled hemmers and was equally pleased with the results. It rolled that hem so beautifully it look like a professional job.

It is so much fun to discover what these attachments will do, don't be afraid to try them out to see what they can do. You can see more pictures of these attachments in my Etsy store
